HOW TO DRAFT A NO DARTS BASIC BODICE BLOCK BY PATTERNYOURSTYLE
Follow this link to Watch the Full Video
This is a #PatternDrafting Video.
Learn How to Create a No Darts #BodiceBlock Pattern.
This method is super easy and simple.
The Horizontal Lines depict the Following Body Points
-Shoulders
-Bust Point
-Waist
-Hips
I am using a Standard formula to place these lines on the Paper
You must draw the shoulder Line at the Edge of the Paper as the Starting Point.
Then use the Standard formula as follows:
Shoulder Line to Bust Point Line : 10 Inches
Shoulder Line to Waist Line : 17 Inches
Shoulder Line to Hip Line : 24 Inches or 25 Inches for plus size.
You still have to know your Circumferential Body Measurements for these points
-Bust
-Waist
-Hip
When you have measured yourself and gotten the circumferential measurements,
divide the measurements by 1/4 and insert the 1/4 measurement on the the paper as shown in the Video.
For the Shoulder Point your Insert 1/2 of the Measurement of the Paper.
KEY DRAFTING FORMULAS USED IN THIS #BASICBODICEPATTERN VIDEO ARE;
Vertical lines:
Shoulder Line to Chest Line : USE this formula (bust Circumference ÷ 6) + 1.5.
Shoulder Line to Bust Point Line : 10 Inches
Shoulder Line to Waist Line : 17 Inches
Shoulder Line to Hip Line : 24 Inches or 25 Inches for plus size.
Mark 1/2 of your shoulder on the shoulder line.
Mark 1/4 of your bust on the upper & bust point line.
Mark 1/4 of your waist on the waist line.
Mark 1/4 of your hip on the hip line.

How to Take Body Measurements for Pattern Drafting
When taking Body Measurements, it is important take to take them appropriately and accurately. Remember your Body Measurements are 3 Dimensional but when you are transferring them to paper they are 2 Dimensional measurements. i.e Length & Width.
You will also need to have the correct tools to accurately document your measurements. Ensure that you are comfortably dressed when taking your Body measurements. If you can get a friend to take them for you that would be great.
You'll need a Tape measurement to get started.
For the Basic Pattern Drafting Method that You will need to take the the Following Body Measurements:

The #V2953 Sewing Contest
Have you heard that the McCall Pattern Company is holding a #V2953 Sewing Contest ? This Pattern has been ever so popular this Summer 2017. I saw the Pattern on the Mcalls Website but I hadn't purchased it yet. The neckline would need adjusting in my own Opinion. I was glad to see that many sewist felt the same about the Neckline but they used the Pattern but went ahead and adjusted the Neckline.
"And it’s so easy to enter. All you have to do is:
- Make this dress pattern. If you’ve already made this pattern you can still enter it in the contest.
- Post your make on social media (Instagram [preferred], Facebook and the McCall’s Facebook Group, Pinterest, Twitter) any time between now and August 15, 2017. Posting it one place on social media, such as Instagram, is enough, as long as you’ve used the hashtag #V9253.
- Tag it #V9253. If you’ve already made this dress and posted it, you can update your post with the hashtag."
